Introduction

Eko Akete, a place of wisdom, is a planned self-sustaining estate community that will soon be under construction on the Lekki peninsula, 30 kilometers east of Victoria Island.  The community is designed to eventually accommodate a population of over 30,000 people.  The first phase is expected to be completed in 24 months and includes the construction of 2,004 housing units.  Supporting utility systems are water, power, waste management, including odorless enclosed sewer lines and community facilities (parks, shopping, schools).  The community will operate its own electrical generating plant, security system, and water supply system.  The project is a joint development of Lagos State Development Property Corporation (LSDPC) and ASI Building Systems Limited (ABSL).
